Does this mean an end to the 'let's make it a cauldron of noise' threads then?

Let's face it, the atmosphere has gone when the terraces went.

Genuine Bluenoses used to still sing even when we were 4 or 5 nil down, unlike the prawn sandwich brigade we've got now, along with every other Prem club.

Bar IMO:

Villa 02
Iswich 01
Watford 99

Fans stood, which made for a more intimindating atmosphere.

it is true that we used to sing when we were losing , i think many of the fans that did sing what ever have gone now , seating has added to the lack of atmoss and i dout we will see the likes of it again.

I think the title of this thread says a lot.

"Rubbish Atmosphere"

An opinion only. No attempt to suggest or discover a reason to support it.
And then the board get slammed as well.
You couldn't write this stuff into a sitcom.

As people have suggested, and doc summed it up perfectly.
Things are changing and the old days may be gone.

It isn't a "Rubbish" atmosphere, its a "Different" atmosphere, and one that the next generation will grow up with and see as normal. They may see screaming and chanting, even pitch invasions of the dying ant, as all belonging to an old fashioned world.

Think club should promote a singing section of ground - maybe couple of the lower blocks in Tilton corner for next season

if you don't sing contsantly when seated there - you get thrown out!

I'd give it a go - maybe have some instruments in there and song sheets made up as well

Used to play trumpet at school (errr 20 years ago) but i'm sure I could still attempt KRO and one or two others rousing anthems.

I wish they would sell Prawn sandwiches. I love a Prawn sandwich or even a Big cobb full of Prawns and mayo. Yummy!!!!

Its possible that the "noisy" element have been priced out of football.

In the premiership it is no longer a working man's game. And by "working man" I mean a manual or low paid worker. Not an insult to the middle class etc, but just a ready rule-of-thumb type of description.

The lower paid, if they can afford to go themelves at £30 a throw, certainly can't afford to take their kids as well. And to replace them we have the generation of suits, who were too scared to go to football 20 years ago, and too embarrassed to sing out now.

Everything is changing.

Charge £2 a ticket and you will have chav riots and wannabe-hooligans back. (And they probably only know abusive / racist songs anyway).

Charge £30 and you get the politer patron every game.

Everything is changing. We need to adapt to it and not look around for blame.

Ibelieve they were all night games as well. That does make a difference.

Nowadays we only get 1/2 home night games a season.

Bloody love night games! :applause:

Yeah, but the Newcastle game WAS a night game.

Thats what makes it all more depressing, especially in light of all the hype this game had beforehand (even on national stations like TalkSport etc) and it was a huge game. It's just that the fan's don't seem to match up to it. Yes, I know you'll get those who say, well whats to sing about, but hey, what about getting behind your team - isn't that what it's all about? Also, that argument doesn't convince me, as it usually starts to hush up not long after kick-off..... when everyone's blady sat down!

Did like the post about the prawn sandwich/cob though :)
